Heading into this weekend's Ontario District Chorus Contest in Belleville, East York was looking forward to establishing another new level of performance. All our hard work (and fantastic coaching from the likes of Jordan Travis and Mike Slamka) was rewarded by a great reaction from the audience, and in the marks posted by the judges. Our score of 841 points marked the 4th consecutive year of improved contest results, broke the 70% barrier (at 70.1%), and resulted in a 4th place finish and two trophies (Plateau 3 Award and the Chorus Encouragement Award).
Contratulations to all of the Chorus and Quartet competitors who hit the stage this weekend, and to the various folks who work so hard behind the scenes to put on a wonderful weekend of barbershop harmony. Ontario is going to be very well represented in the 2015 International Contest next summer by our friends in the Hamilton Harbourtown Sound Chorus, and in the Mid-Winter International Seniors Quartet Contest by Nostalgia Express. And of course congrats to Novice Quartet Champs, Brass Monkey and our newest Ontario District Quartet Champions, Test Drive!
