We had a very successful Ontario District Fall Conference with East York members in 4 quartets and 41 performers on the risers for the chorus competition.
Congratulations to Basses Unlimited, who won the Seniors Competition and will represent our district in the International Seniors Quartet Competition at the Reno Midwinter Conference in January. Congratulations also go to the other three quartets with East York members, Trailer Park Boys, Brass Monkey and SoundBite, on their performances.
In the Chorus Competition, we congratulate Toronto Northern Lights who once again placed first and will represent Ontario District in Nashville next July.
East York is very proud to have placed 4th and won the Most Improved Chorus award for the third time in four years. We made great strides by posting scores we haven't seen since 2001. Overall we raised our total scores by 4.3% over last year and set new 15-year highs in each of the three categories that we are judged on (music, presentation and singing). In fact, we were only 5 points (out of 1200) or less than half a per cent short of 3rd place Ottawa.
It was a great competition for us and we look forward to making similar strides over the next year.
