We had a tremendous Ontario District Fall Conference with East York members in 5 quartets and 34 performers on the risers for the chorus competition.
We tip our hats to this year’s quartet competition winners: Fleeting Sensations (Quartet Finals) and Tall Boys (Seniors Quartet Finals). It was an extremely tight competition with the top for quartets in the Quartet Finals being separated by a mere seven-tenths of a percentage point. (First and second places were only one-tenth of a point apart.)
East York had members in Some Assembly Required, the Gower Street Gang, Post It!, the Trailer Park Boys, and #WACD. We congratulate them on their performances and the fine way they represented us in the district.
In the Chorus Competition, we congratulate Toronto Northern Lights who once again placed first and will represent Ontario District in Las Vegas next July. And it certainly wouldn’t be a surprise if the Most Improved chorus, Hamilton’s Harbourtown Sound, received a wild card spot.
East York placed 5th this year, singing two songs that we hadn’t sung in competition in recent years.
It was a great competition, and now we get down to work preparing for next year.
